Sources

This page lists the sources used across Adhan Salaty.

Prayer calculation

Prayer times are calculated via the Aladhan API, an open-source service operated by IslamicNetwork. Aladhan implements the standard astronomical calculation methods used by major Islamic authorities, including the Muslim World League (MWL) method we adopt as default.

MWL standard

The Muslim World League method is the standard adopted by the Federación Española de Entidades Religiosas Islámicas (FEERI) and the Comisión Islámica de España. MWL uses an 18° angle for Fajr and 17° for Isha.

Mosque addresses

Mosque addresses listed on city pages are verified against: the FEERI mosque directory, official mosque websites, and Google Maps at time of publication. Addresses can change over time — write to us if you find an outdated listing.

Hijri calendar

Hijri dates are computed via the Aladhan API gToH and hToG endpoints, which implement the standard astronomical calculation of the tabular Islamic calendar. Local moon-sightings may differ by up to a day — for religious dates that matter (start of Ramadan, Eid), always confirm with your mosque.

Spanish Muslim demographics

General claims about Spain's Muslim community draw on public data from the Unión de Comunidades Islámicas de España (UCIDE), reports from the Observatorio Andalusí, and censuses from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE).

Geographic data

Latitude/longitude coordinates and population figures are sourced from standard public references (OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia, INE). Prayer-time calculation accuracy is not sensitive to latitude errors below a few kilometres.
